Study of flavobetin feed additive efficiency in experimental modeling of general hyperthermia in laboratory animals

Summary. High ambient temperatures have a negative impact on dairy livestock. Hyperthermia causes a decrease in the resistance, reproductive qualities and dairy productivity of livestock. To increase the adaptive potential of animals and minimize the consequences of heat stress, Flavobetin feed additive has been developed and patented on the basis of the Krasnodar Scientific Center for Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine. The article describes the experience of studying Flavobetin efficiency on laboratory animals under conditions of experimental hyperthermia. The experiment involved 3 groups of 10 rats each: a control group and two experimental groups. The survival rate of animals, changes in clinical status and behavioral reactions were evaluated in the ‘Open Field' test, at the end of the experiment, a pathoanatomic study was conducted. It was found that repeated thermal effects on laboratory rats were manifested by their general depression, decreased appetite, increased breathing and heartbeat. In animals treated with Flavobetin 7 days before and during 5 days of heat stress modeling, the clinical signs of general hyperthermia and emotional anxiety decrease, changes occur in the experimental research activity of animals, pathological changes in the heart and lungs decrease. The obtained results allow us to recommend Flavobetin feed additive as a regulator of the adaptive reactions of the animal body when exposed to high temperatures.
