Summary. Retrospective data analysis on bovine leukemia epizootic situation for 2000-2021 in the beef and dairy farms in Smolensk region are described in the article. The study of the epizootic situation for bovine leukemia on the territory of Smolensk region for two decades was carried out in order to determine the manifestation of the epizootic process, which contributed to more effective antiepizootic measures for the improvement of the large horned cattle in the future. An analysis of the work over a twenty-year period indicates that the viral load of the large cattle is gradually decreasing, there are more and more territories free from the leukemia virus. The situation of bovine leukemia during this period has changed not only due to the implementation of recreational activities. During this period, the number of dairy cattle in farms of all categories and among the population has significantly decreased. Currently most of the territory of Smolensk region is practically free of the leukemia virus thanks to many years of work of bovine leukemia combating, but since this is a slow chronic disease there are currently cases of isolation of infected animals among the large horned cattle belonging to the population. The data given in this article indicate that the disease itself and the source of infection of bovine leukemia in the territory of Smolensk region has not yet been completely eradicated.
