Gamavit efficacy in treatment of borreliosis in dogs

Summary. The work is devoted to the evaluation of Gamavit effectiveness in the treatment of borreliosis in dogs. Gamavit has proven clinical efficacy in the treatment of infections and parasitic infestations in pets. The justification for its inclusion into the therapeutic protocol was based on the data that the use of antibiotics can cause mass death of spirochetes, accompanied by the release of endotoxins in the blood and aggravation of the clinical condition of the patient. The study was performed on 12 dogs divided into 2 equal groups according to the principle of analogues. The diagnosis was made on the basis of the blood sera IHA studies. Doxycycline (10 mg/kg for a week) was administered as an etiotropic drug, complemented by Rimadil. Patients of the second group were additionally inoculated with Gamavit (0.2 ml per kg, s/c, once a day for 5 days). Results of treatment showed that Lime borreliosis of dogs in the Saratov region is accompanied to a greater extent by nephritis and arthrosis. Inclusion of Gamavit in the treatment protocol allows weakening the inflammatory response and preventing kidney damage. Clinically, after a week of therapy, normalization of temperature, disappearance of polyuria, weakening of lameness were noted. In hematological study, decline in erythrocyte sedimentation rate was observed as well as decreased leukocytosis and eosinophilia. Biochemical studies of the blood serum showed decreased inflammatory response in dogs of the 2nd group. Thus, Gamavit increases the of borreliosis treatment.
