Gamavit influence of on natural killer cells’ activity

Summary. NK-cells or natural killer cells are cytotoxic lymphocytes that play an important role in the functioning of the body’s natural resistance system. Especially great is their value in viral infections and in anti-tumor immunity. Activity of natural killer cells is closely associated with other immune factors, in particular the production of cytokines - IL-1, IL-2, interferon, and others. Authors studied immunomodulatoring properties of Gamavit in respect to the natural killer cell activity in mice. Gamavit was injected intramuscularly and orally in two different doses.The results of the experiments proved that introducing of Gamavit caused a dose-dependent stimulation of the activity of natural killer cells, growing by increasing of the effector to target ratios, the most pronounced in 7 days after dosing. At the same time no significant differences between the routes of administration, although a somewhat better effect was achieved by intramuscular route of injection of Gamavit. In this way, the study deepened the existing ideas about the presence of Gamavit immunomodulatoring properties. Increasing of the activity of natural killer cells by the use of Gamavit can play an important role in explanation of the mechanisms of its therapeutic effect against viral infections and parasitic infestations.
