Use of different methods of local heating in industrial pig breeding

Summary. Purpose of the work was to study the influence of developed method of local heating and heat localization on growth, safety and physiological state of the piglets. Authors found that average daily weight gain of piglets was 242 g using a low-temperature heater, that by 24 g (11%) and 11 g (4.8%) more than compared to piglets contained infrared lamp and heated mats. The smallest waste of piglets was marked in the second group – 5.9%, most of the pigs died from colibacillosis – 63.1%, while the cause of death of 21.1% of the piglets was low body weight and birth defects and 15,8% – from mechanical asphyxia. Analysis of the blood indices, held at 28 days, showed tendency of increasing of red blood cells, white blood cells, hemoglobin, and total protein with the age, respectively, by 12%; 0.7%; 7.0% and 6.3% in piglets of the 2nd test group. A similar picture is also observed in pigs in the control group. Thus, the content of erythrocytes and blood total protein increased by 6.1% and 2.3%, the concentration of hemoglobin – 1.3% at the reduction in leucocyte content by 0.7%. Increase of humoral factors of natural resistance in all experimental groups is registered with age. Suckling piglets contained in the suckling period, using a low-temperature heating panels, were characterized by higher natural resistance at weaning. Thus, the level of serum bactericidal and lysozyme activity is higher compared with contemporaries of the control and the 1st experimental groups by 8.5%, 10.4%, 9.3% and 11.9%, respectively.
