Summary. The article presents the results of a review exploratory research on the study of Russian and world experience in the use of feed additives based on selenium in technological cycles in poultry. Poultry is one of the important and perspective agricultural spheres today. The population needs quality egg and meat products. The requirements for products are dietary, high protein content, full microelement composition and price. All of this indicates the needs for systematic management of the production process. If we look at practice, the result of successful poultry production consists of the organization of rational, nutritious and economically feasible feeding and the use of preparations. Therefore, biologically active substances have a special focus in the design of poultry diets. They have a positive effect on metabolism, immunological reactivity and productivity. Selenium is one of the most important indispensable components for ensuring the normal life activity of birds. The microelement has an influence of the protein, the carbohydrate and the fat metabolism, has catalytic activity, which consists in regulating in the rate of the redox reactions, reactions involving hormones, enzymes and vitamins. Selenium has an immunostimulating effect in the poultry organism, which accelerates the production of antibodies, activates phagocytes and increases resistance to infectious agents. The feed supplements consist of selenium in different forms: organic, inorganic and nanoscale. An inorganic selenium is selenate, selenite, selenide. An organic is a trace element in animal and plant tissues, which are selenocysteine, selenomethionine or selenium-enriched yeast. The use of selenium nanoforms in the diet of poultry allows to improve hematological parameters and increase the value of meat. The introduction of nanotechnology is a promising direction in the development of agriculture.

Keywords: selenium, trace elements, biologically active substances, poultry productivity, egg products, meat products, poultry breeding.
