Summary. African swine fever (ASF) became epidemic in the Kaliningrad region by the end of 2017 after when the virus was detected in a wild boar in the Bagrationovsky district on the borders with Poland. In this study the analysis of data and indicators of disease detection in the Kaliningrad region was carried out, and 3 epizootic periods were detected. Eleven months since the registration of the first case, ASF affected more than 90% of the administrative districts of the region, which might be due to anthropogenic factor and ineffective implementation of preventive measures [9]. A moderately strong correlation was established r = 0.38 (p<0.05) between the number of officially registered ASF cases and outbreaks. In the domestic pigs population, 91% of the outbreaks were registered in the summer season in the 2nd period of epizootic. In the wild boar population, the peaks of ASF was detected both in summer and winter seasons, and the frequency of detection among dead WB (70% of cases) was 10 times higher than that of hunted WB. The previous summer peak of ASF registration in the group of the dead in relation to the shot. The course of epizootology differed among regions, in the Northern and Central regions ASF reintroduction was detected, while in the Southern regions the virus spread was independent of human factors. We propose to conduct genomic analysis and revise the strategies used for epizootic surveillance and control of ASF in the region.
